The phrase is used to describe a group of young businesses that create new goods "on the basis of real engineering innovation or scientific discovery," not innovation itself. The most Deep Tech Startups significant deep tech fields in 2019 included advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, blockchain, robotics, photonics, electronics, and quantum computing, according to research by the Boston Consulting Group and Hello Tomorrow, a French nonprofit that supports deep technology.
